9 things that wedding guests only care about
Wedding guests remember a lot of things, and depending on how close they are to you they were probably in the planning trenches with you. But what should you spend your money on in order for guests to remember your wedding? What sort of things do guests care about? We’ll answer your questions below!
- The food
Lets be honest – we all love a good bit of grub, and your wedding food is no different! This is REALLY worth spending your money on – as Delicious food and fabulous table guests, can be an amazing way to create a lasting experience.
TOP TIP:
Do taster sessions with different caterers with different food styles. Make a pinterest board with what vibe you want your wedding to have, and run with it when it comes to your menu! Does your vibe speak to a laid-back hog roast style? Or a more fancier sit down meal? Make sure your theming is drool-worthy by planning your wedding food in a cohesive way with your theme.
- The music
Have you ever been having a rubbish day, and an uplifting song came on? (queue Can’t Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake) and you immediately feel better? This applies to your wedding guests too! Its only human nature to love a good boogie, so make sure that your tunes are upbeat, happy and tap worthy!
TOP TIP
Create a wedding notebook (evernote is fab for this!) and add to it in the lead-up to the wedding. Make sure to forward this to your wedding DJ and ask him/her for their recommendations also
- Your dress
You and your fiancé are the cornerstone of your wedding day. Your outfits are no exception! If you are more of a low-key kinda gal, and the thought of people staring at you brings you out in sweats, Opt for a simpler style dress, but with added detail such as lace and belts.
TOP TIP
Google local wedding dress shops near you, and make sure to try them on! Take some of your bride tribe with you, and their reactions will guide you in the right direction!
- Personal touches
These can be things like theming the table plan numbers with the colour of your wedding, Having hand-written name tags, How they will sign the guest book, personalised wedding hashtags etc etc! Guests will have a bit of time on their hands to explore your venue, especially whilst you are getting photos taken, so making sure that these little details are dotted around will be sure to bring a smile to their face!

In a nutshell, this is how smoothly the day went. Your venue will probably take care of most of this, but asking questions like ‘what happens if it rains half an hour before the wedding?’ will enable you to know for sure, that your wedding will run smoothly whatever happens!
TOP TIP
We will be writing a blog post about this shortly, but googling ‘questions to ask your venue’ will give you some great ideas.
- Table plan
Ahhhh Wedding guest politics! I’m sure if you are in the depths of wedding planning, you have already experienced this. BUT guest politics is #reallife and it can be a bummer if you’re trying to make your wedding day be like a fairytale. However, guests will remember if you sat them next to that ONE person that they dislike, and it may cause disruption and even arguments.
TOP TIP
Make a quick list of people that you KNOW don’t get along, this can help when doing your seating plan and will enable you to have a quick ready reckoner to make sure that everything runs like a well oiled machine!
- Reception venue
Where you get married is what people tend to discuss when they talk about your wedding, so getting married somewhere that fits In with you and your fiancés personality will make sure that your guests will forever how fab your day and venue was.
TOP TIP
If you are getting married at a certain time of year, be sure to do a quick google search for reviews and info from those who recommend a particular venue for a particular time of year. For example if you are getting married in December, a quick google search reveals that the ‘best wedding venues for winter in Dorset UK’ reveals some stunning hotels near Bournemouth that will make your wedding magical all year round.
- Travel
Making your venue easy for your guests to travel to will make sure that no-one arrives late, and most of all, no-one arrives grumpy!
TOP TIP
Use google maps to check if your far-away guests will be able to reach you easily. If it looks a tad tricky – give them a call or send them a map to help them.
- Thank you cards
This is the last little reminder of your wedding, and will be something they probably will pin up on their fridges for months, if not years! Ensuring that you personalize their message, and thank them for their gift (make sure to remember what they gave you!) will make your guests feel special, and appreciated!
TOP TIP
Try to take a photo from the wedding and use that on your thank you card! Your guests will appreciate the memento from your special day.
